WOW Furthur in Radio City Tuesday, February 23, 2010
I looked online and emailed some buddies who have seen other shows on this tour and they said I was in for a treat.
I headed over to Radio City to meet up with some friends, and after hanging out in the rain for about an hour I went in, soggy feet and all. The crowd was very relaxed and got right back into the groove of the past and I caught up with some old friends and made some new ones. The lights started to blink and we made it slowly to our seats; once the show started the energy in the room grew and grew. There was so much positive energy in the acoustically perfect Radio City Music Hall. What a treat to hear with the acoustics of Radio City—not a bad seat in the house sound-wise—such a treat compared to outdoor venues and some other "music" venues around the country. The show opened with a little jam, then on to "Playin' in the Band" and continued to jam the evening away with 2 sets and an encore of "Johhny B. Goode" to close out the night. I really enjoyed the energy from the stage and in the room so positive and so loving, and it was such a treat to see Phil and Bobby play the way they did with the loving, positive energy. The last time I saw that energy consistently was when Phil toured with Joan Osborne back in the day. They played some old Pig Pen songs and Jerry tunes, stuff that they have stayed away from in their previous incarnations. I am really looking forward to seeing more shows on this tour, I'll have more to report each night this week. Set-list below.
Have a Peaceful Day.
I: Jam > The Other One Jam > Playin in the Band > After Midnight, They Love Each Other, When I Paint My Masterpiece, The Race Is On > Two Djinn, Samson and Delilah
II: Viola Lee Blues > Shakedown Street > Hard to Handle > Deal > Mason's Children > Days Between > Let It Grow, Help on the Way > Slipknot! > Franklin's Tower
E: Johnny B. Goode
