On the road again.

On the road again, this past weekend heading to one of the cities I frequented when I was in college and boy, has it changed! Looking at the businesses and which ones are still there, gone or changed. The "old" diner that was there 20 years ago is still there with almost the same menu. The trendy sports bar on the corner is now a Starbucks (this was probably a result of letting just a bit too many underage drinkers drink), the staple Irish bar has changed its colors from dark and green to light blue and airy--oh! and some of the beers on tap have changed as well. Numerous other businesses have changed or gone out of business for one reason or another. The most obvious one by looking at which businesses have come and gone, were the ones that changed daily to be popular and bent the rules trying to make the quick buck. One thing we do not know is how well the owners of those old businesses did and what they are doing now. That would be an interesting research project for a grad student from Syracuse University's Whitman School of Management, to find out what the owners of the businesses that are still there and those that have closed, are doing today.
